WhatsApp Leads the Saudi App List

WhatsApp remains the most widely used social media application in Saudi Arabia, according to the latest Saudi Internet Report. The app continues to hold a clear lead over other popular platforms used across the Kingdom. The figures show that WhatsApp is used by 92.7% of users, putting it comfortably ahead of Snapchat and TikTok. Its popularity is not limited to one particular age group or section of society.

Snapchat Comes in Second

Snapchat has also developed a very strong presence in Saudi Arabia, coming second with 83.6% usage. The platform is particularly popular among younger users and remains an important part of everyday social communication. Interestingly, Snapchat is even more popular among Saudi women than men. The reported usage is 88.2% among women, compared with 80.2% among men.

TikTok Continues to Grow

TikTok ranks third among the most used social media applications in Saudi Arabia, with usage reaching 77%. Short videos have become a major part of online entertainment, and Saudi users are clearly part of that wider trend. The platform has attracted users across different age groups, making it more than just a youth focused application. Its strong position shows how quickly short form video has become part of everyday digital life.

YouTube Still Has a Huge Audience

YouTube follows closely, with 75.8% usage according to the report. Although it ranks below WhatsApp, Snapchat, and TikTok in overall social media usage, the platform remains a major destination for videos, entertainment, education, and news. There is also an interesting difference between men and women. YouTube usage reaches 81.1% among Saudi men, while the figure is 68.8% among women.

Instagram and X Follow

Instagram remains popular in Saudi Arabia, with around 40.8% usage, while X is used by about 34.9% of users. These platforms still have an important place in the country’s digital landscape, particularly for visual content, public discussions, news, and influencers. Telegram, Facebook, and Messenger also have users in the Kingdom, although their overall usage is considerably lower than the leading platforms.

Why WhatsApp Remains So Popular

One reason WhatsApp continues to dominate is its simplicity. People use it for family conversations, work, business communication, groups, calls, and everyday messages. It has also become part of normal daily communication rather than being treated simply as a social media platform. That wide range of uses may explain why its popularity remains so strong across different age groups.

Saudi Arabia Is Highly Connected

The wider figures show just how connected Saudi society has become. The Saudi Internet Report found that 61.3% of internet users spend seven hours or more online each day. Mobile phones are also overwhelmingly the main way people access the internet, with mobile usage reaching 99.6%.

What the Numbers Tell Us

The latest figures make one thing quite clear, WhatsApp remains the leading communication and social platform in Saudi Arabia. Snapchat and TikTok are also deeply established, while YouTube continues to attract a huge audience. The competition between these platforms is likely to remain interesting as user habits change. For now, however, WhatsApp still has the strongest position among the apps used by people across the Kingdom.
