The development has renewed public attention on the investigation into the teenager’s death and the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s death.

Main Suspect Reportedly Escaped Police Custody

The suspect, identified in reports as Tauqeer Nazir, had been placed on physical remand for questioning in connection with the death of 15-year-old Waseem Abbas. Police later said he had escaped custody before the reported encounter near Bahawalpur. Authorities have not publicly explained how the escape occurred.

Police Describe Encounter Near Bahawalpur

According to the Punjab Crime Control Department (CCD), officers attempted to stop two men riding a motorcycle near Bahawalpur’s Northern Bypass. Officials said the men opened fire, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Police allege that Tauqeer was fatally struck by bullets fired by his accomplice, who escaped.

Case Began With the Death of 15-Year-Old Waseem Abbas

Waseem Abbas, a 15-year-old orphan from Muzaffargarh, died in Multan after a car allegedly chased and struck him. Police said the teenager had been learning electrical work under a contractor and reportedly wanted to leave the job following alleged mistreatment. CCTV footage of the incident became a key part of the case.

Second Suspect Still Being Sought

Reports identify Amjad Ali as the alleged accomplice in the teenager’s death. He was reportedly involved in the original case and is now also being sought in connection with the encounter, according to police accounts. His whereabouts remain unknown.

Questions Remain About Police Custody

The reported escape raises questions about how a suspect on physical remand was able to leave custody and reach Bahawalpur. Authorities have not yet publicly explained the circumstances of the escape. Further details are needed to clarify the sequence of events and whether any action will be taken over the custody lapse.

Investigation Continues

The encounter marks a new development in a case that drew public attention because the victim was a minor. Investigators are expected to continue examining the original killing, the alleged escape from custody and the circumstances of the fatal encounter. The police account of the encounter has been reported by multiple outlets, but independent details about the shooting and custody escape remain limited. Further official information will be important in establishing the full sequence of events.

The case involving the death of an orphaned teenager in Multan has taken a new turn following reports that the main suspect was killed in a police encounter.
